tri-power, power?

Seems to be alot of tri-power discussion here lately. SO, here's my question?
In general, how much power do tri-power set ups get vs an OZ head and intake?

Can’t tell you what the power difference is but I would think you certainly would be able to get more out of both the new aluminum and oz head setups. One of these days I’ll mine on a dyno to find out how power I’m getting. You can check out what other people are getting for power at the Classic Inlines dyno page.
The main reason I went that route was the “wow” factor. There is just something I really like about multiple carbs. I don’t think I’ve seen two alike. Everyone seems to figure out their own way of setting it up which I think is great.
If you like to go to cruise nights with something really different that gets a lot of great comments this is for you.
If you like to go nuts trying to get this setup working right this is just for you. My biggest problem has been vacuum leaks that I’ve finally fixed (I’m sure they will come back).
If you get a lot of satisfaction of putting something together that’s really different than this is for you.
If you want something to use as a daily driver, I would say this is not for you.

same here, not sure about power comparison but for the price of the tri-power you can be well over 1/2 way to the C.I. aluminum head. with much more power potential and less tuning headachs. I went with the tri-power for the wow factor also.

Here is my review of the Offy versus Aussie 250/4V set up I have now. I'm one of the few that has run both.

Now, take my observations with a grain of salt, as all measures of power were only taken with a classic butt-o-meter.

I think for high end power, Offy did a lot better. The Aussie had slightly better low end grunt and torque, but once you got above 4000RPM, the Offy seemed to take an edge. The Offy just sounded amazing at WOT.

When I ran the two, here are a couple of things to take into account. It was the same block and same Comp Cam 260H. The valves on the modified log were standard sized valve, my Aussie head has enlarged valves. Otherwise, everything was the same. Same rear end (at the time), same 4 cylinder T5 (at the time), same ignition, same suspension, etc.

Sure, when you are done with an Offy, you are half way to a CI head, but that's still $600 cheaper for something that is comparable performance wise. Now, if money wasn't an issue, I'd go with the CI head just for simplicity. But that is something everyone has to decide for themselves. I went from the Offy set up because I still intend to do forced air modifications in the future and having a more simple set up will make that easier. Also, I was daily driving the mustang at the time, and having a simple set up just makes driving easier.

For show and wow factor...can't beat the Offy.
