Tuning Autolite 1100

So I took the Holley 1 bbl off cause it needs a load of TLC and came across a rebuilt Autolite 1100 for a good price so I bought it. Dropped it in and had no problem starting it up, while the choke was closed. Once choke was opened the engine died. Tried different combinations and twists of the idle speed and mixture screws to no avail. Any thoughts?

Check for a vacuum leak.

These 1100s are pretty simple. I would check the float. Though it is possible the idle circuit is clogged. Try to start it while giving it some gas while starting it. Try to keep the RPMS above 2k. If you can get it to run off choke above 2k RPM, the problem is your idle circuit is partially clogged.

Also, unless you didn't adjust it when pulling the Holley off, try to check your timing.
