tuning up the 200 (guide)

Hi to all .

With this thread I am going to show my step by step build of my 200 straight six which is currently stock. I will be using the stock log head and block from a 68 mustang as funds for the ci aluminium not available.

this build is my first and any tips and help is more than welcome

1st step cylinder head

. I have removed the head and taken it to

(cylinderheaddevelopments.co.uk)

where it will have a clean then machined . The plan so far is to widen the exhaust ports insert the divider also skim the head .I am also going to have a three angle valve job plus it will be polished up to its mega smooth.

if anyone has any extra info on what else I can do to the head please add

Depending on what you're planning for a carb, this would be a good time to do the machine work for a direct mount 2bbl.

I was going to opt for the triple carb setup is that a wise choice?

i love my webers ,, but for what ya end up in it the new head would be better ,any way webbers are 200 each n im not shure what the offy is , once ya have the webers set there great n stay adj for 10s of tho miles at a time

Hi to all I have just recieved the head back from cylinder head developments and I am reall pleased with the result the exaust ports have been widened right out to the gasket it has had a three angle valve job and been polished up for a baby smooth finish pics to come .adj rocker arm also installed.

im doing 6 honda 450 mc side draft carbs mounted to the stock head

I'd say a good balance and a good cam are the two key items when considering the block. Also, double check with the authors of the Fordsix performance handbook, but it appears that milling the deck to a zero piston height is important for raising compression and restoring a proper quench area in the chambers. By the way, what is the volume of your chambers? Have you calculated your target compression ratio? It seems you are in the U.K. and get get high octane gas, so with a proper cam you can probably safly go to 9.5:1 or so. That will make a big difference in terms of torque.

I have had the cylinder head done 1:6:1 adj rocker arm ,widened exhaust ports and polished chambers

I have had the block bored +060 going to do a dummy build work out the compression then I will get the block decked

I am installing a 264h cam

was wandering if I am missing something how can I get more power.
