turns over but just wont start

well, i got everything back together today from my recent upgrading of my cam and switching it an OZ 250 head, and so on.
All wiring and hoses etc. were plugged in and connected in there appropriate places (or so I thought) the carb was getting fuel but the motor just kept turning over and wouldn't start all the way up.
It seems as though I'm not getting any spark at the plugs too. I can't figure out why.
I've been fighting with it all afternoon. Any suggestions on where I should go back and check? maybe somebody here will remind me of something I may have overlooked.
Thanks,
Julian

If your having ignition problems tell us more about your ignition syatem.
Have voltage to the positve side of the coil?
Is the voltage on the neg side of coil pulsing with the engine turning over?
Hei modules, Duraspark modules and spark plugs need grounded.

8) start by making sure that you have voltage through the coil, not just to it. a bad coil will cause a no start situation. then check to see if you have voltage to the plugs. if you do then your issue is likely going to be a timing issue.

I've dealt with the same issues. What I've do is start at the spark plug and work your way back.

Make sure the wires are tight on the plugs and inserted into the cap.

Pull the cap and make sure there is a rotor (one of my issues  ). Check the point gap and the interior wiring.

Then verify that the coil is getting 12V at start-up and 6 V in "run".

Also, did you re-intall the dizzy in the same EXACT location? Maybe rotate the dizzy and see if you get a spark... :?

I also have to admit I have had that problem, not at first but after the 2nd or 3rd time checking under it somehow it seems to not make it back in. About the time you are hooking the charger up since you just killed the battery you see the 'extra' rotor laying there and think wait a minute I dont have an extra one.

I have electronic ignition with a pertronix flame-thrower coil. i AM getting voltage to the coil. Just not past it. :x

All the wires are tight on the plugs. Yes, the rotor is in there. i checked and double checked. And yes, I reinstalled the distributor in the same location,

Wht type of electronic controls do you have?

Was the electronic part there before this project or part of this project?

Yep. I'm testing the coil this afternoon because I have a feeling that may be where my problem is.

You can put a timing light on the coil wire and see if it fires. That's another way to check to see if there is the spark/current coming from the coil to the dizzy.

well. i must have some sort of intermittent problem. I took out the coil. Tested fine. Put it back in and it started up. Had a little trouble at first with the new carb on there and whatever but got the timing set and everything. So now im chasing some electrical gremlins... But, on the bright side...

The car sounds amazing with the new cam in there and OZ head and everything installed! ALL I can say is WOW!!!!

Probably! I live close to UCF, I work at the Greenway Dealership and go to school at VCC. And the mustang is a daily driver so I'm all over the place with it :D
