would this change anything, i just noticed that my head says C6 when it should say C8. is the 66 head any different than the 68? if it is, what's the difference? if a 68 head will get me more power, i'd like to have it. thanks guys.

No real difference between 65 and 68. I think in 69 they started using a larger log, at least on the 250s. You may hear them called M logs.

As far as a difference between what you got, shouldn't be anything measureable. You can always try to find a mid to late 70s 250 Head. That will help you out some.

I think after 78, the heads had hardened seat valves as well. I now run a 66 head on a 78 block. No problems really, other than making sure the hole & mounting for the carb was ok- which was an issue with previous different heads I had tried in my 68 & its original C8 block.

thanks guys. i wasn't sure if it made a difference or not because my engine is dead stock and runs like my dads 289. so when i started looking at it, i noticed it had a 66 head and was wondering if that would be the reason.
