Well, things were going well today, the repair sleeve for the balancer went on fine and then the crank seal went into the cover without a hitch. The gasket and RTV sealer worked great on the the cover and that all bolted up nice. The sealer, gaskets and pan went on nicely and then.....well, I over tightened the pan bolts....
I used my torque wrench and I thought 8lbs would be all right.....I even stopped and took another torque wrench to check it. My gasket slipped to the outside at each bolt whole a bit and on about 5 it split. I know it is going to leak, so I guess next weekend I will haul back down to the local parts store and get another pan kit.....I hate doing an oil pan....I always have leaks and I hate leaks. I was going to put some rubber gasket sealer in the recessed area of the front and rear rubber seal gaskets, but apparently I forgot that too.....One good note is the balancer looks great and is right on TDC at 4* advance just like I installed the cam.
