v8 vs. I6 quest.

I am thinking of putting a rack and pinion into my I6 mustang and was told by one manufacturer that "As far a a six cylinder car, we never tried one, but if it was like the Falcon the engines sit down in the car and there was an interference with the oil pan. Also we never made a bracket for the pump to bolt to a six cylinder." My question is do the I6 and v8 engines sit at the same location in these cars or are they in fact like the Falcons and the I6 engine sits down lower? Anyone who has knowledge or experience with this and could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't have an exact answer for you although someone here will. I do know that there are front and rear sump pans that can be interchanged. This may be all you need to buy room.

i have a 69er L-Code mustang with a rack and pinion from randalls.
the installation was absolutly no problem, but i had to build a custom bracket for the servo pump.

i'm not shure about the 200cid, but you might have to build something similar

Did your car have p/s already? Not sure if it would make a difference with the bracket, but my 66 does.

Go to bcbroncos.com and under steering they have a 6 cylinder power steering pump adapter, see if that may work, it works for me in the bronco and is simple to say the least.

yes, my car had powersteering, but i didn't want to destroy/adapt the original pump mount.

you can get original pump mount repros for the 200cid but not for the 250cid engines.

the bronco adapter might save you a lot of time if it works.
