Vac leak?

I cant get my engine to idle smoothly, i dont know what happened, when i first started it after the rebuild, it ran great. now it's making all sorts of racket and running very funky at idle, the intake feels kinda hot too. when im driving it at a cruising speed, it runs fine.

you have a three carb set up dont you? a vacuum leak is quite possible. as i recall each carb has a total of two gaskets under each carb. usually the one between the intake and the carb adapter is the one that leaks.

also make sure the balance between the carbs is proper. each carb should be flowing about the same amount of air and fuel, especially at idle. this is one of the issues with a multi carb set up, they take a lot of effort to get synchronized.

Did you degree the camshaft?
