vacuum signal questions

Hi,

I'm going to be installing hasa68mustang's turbo setup shortly on my 65 coupe and in thinking about what needs to be done, I've come up with a question I can't answer.

What needs to be done for items that rely on a vacuum signal for operation, as vacuum becomes pressure once the turbo begins to spool. I am specifically thinking about the vacuum modulator for the transmission? I have a mid-70's C4 in my car.

I plan to pick up one of the books available... Can you share your experiences?

Thanks,

Kirk

Install check valves.

A GOOD QUALITY pcv valve will be fine a sa check valve by itself (check with compressed air, a little leakage is normal)

The vacuum modulator needs a check valve in the line, but also a very small bleed orifice between the check valve and the modulator. That way, the vacuum modulator can move,
because with a check valve in the line vacuum would pull the modulator open all the way and it would never close.
I just made mine by experimenting with a plastic "T" and melting partially closed one leg. It works, but a small needle valve from an aquarium air line would probably be a lot less hassle.

Thanks Linc's,

BTW your thread that documents your initial 200 build up is awesome... Takes some time to get through, but what a read! You're an inspiration!

Thanks for the compliments.
If you just read over the "fluff" there is some tech buried in there!

I'm glad it could help others out.
