valve adjustment

200 w/ auto trans 1966 want to adjust valves. am reading chilton manual and it said to tighten so pushrod can no longer be turned w/ finger. i thought there should be some clearence . any advise would be appricated. thanks mike

the chilton manual is correct i had the same question when i was intalling my roller rockers.

Howdy Izzy:

No clearance needed with hydraulic lifters. I'd adjust a little pre-load to the lifter too. Tighten till the Pushrod no longer truns with your fingers and then I add another 1/4 turn on the adjuster.
