Valve guide repair question

Ok, took the head to a shop to get two valve guides replaced and the valves lapped in. What I got back was one "repaired" valve guide? It looks like they cut a piece of metal stock, cut off the top of the broken valve guide, drilled the remainder for said stock, and then pressed the stock into the old broken guide. Would anyone happen to know if that is the norm? Its hard to argue with an established machine shop owner when you really dont know what you are talking about in the first place. If I did I would have done it myself. Now I have one "guide" that is different in outside diameter which is going to be a pain getting a valve seal for.

It sounds like they fitted a "bullet" type replacement guide, rather than a thinwall sleeve. Got a picture?

I'll take one when I get home tonight. I've never seen anything like this before but then again, I've never had a smashed valve guide before.
