Well, I got the valve seals done yesterday. 4 were intact but rock hard, 4 were halfway gone, and 4 were not there. I also found small pieces on top of the head. All in all it was pretty easy. I used the rope trick. All I need to do now is borrow a torque wrench to torque down the rocker assembly, and install the valve cover and test it out. I'm sure it will remedy the problem. With the springs off I tried to wiggle the valve stems, and they were fine I thought. In order to tell how much they moved, I'd need a micrometer.

Good job done, the easyway is with air pressure in the cylinders, but you had to do what you had, i congradulate you. With new seals keep track of your oil level & any oil contamination on the spark plugs. If everything checks ok, job completed. William

glad it worked for someone.....mine leaked bad when I got my car started (had sat for decades) replaced them then the valves stuck real bad and bent some pushrods.....so had to pull the head and had it rebuilt

i was not inclined to do that fix...still novice

glad it worked for you!
