vintage paxton supercharger

8) nice find, but no there is no kit to install a paxton, or any other blower, on a small six ford. you would have to make the brackets to mount the blower, and then figure the pulley system, etc. they work nice though.

you would have to find the old kit, would be like the holy grail, or finding one of then engines on the front cover of Hotrod magazine, the best magazine cover in the history of man, i have the magazine

Got a picture here of a "Stroppe-equipped" Falcon (not sure who or what that is or was), tri-power / Paxton supercharged setup. Wild bit of gear, says it's bored .125 over stock, has Iskenderian E-2 cam. Someone posted it a while ago. Wouldn't mind some more info on Stroppe myself!! 8) Pics have come from "How to build Hot Rods and Race them" with a note in the corner that says 'Courtesy Motor Life' Will post it for you if you cannot find it.

Just checkout the two types of kit that Mustangaroo posts on his Paxton SN-89 Supercharger at viewtopic.php?f=22&t=57233&p=440309#p440309

and viewtopic.php?f=1&t=945&start=50.

Short Nose and Variable Speed SN and VS Paxtons and the McCulloch blowers which proceeded it are a 56-57 Ford and 58-62 Studebaker institution, and each of those organisations wouldn't have made Supercharged 280 and 300 hp 312 Thunderbirds and 289 R2 Avanti's unless the kits worked very well, even though the heat build up and total cubic inches are not ideal. Depending on type, they mount were a York/SelecAire/Tecumseh/Motorcraft A/C would go, and that means the aftermarket and factory A/C kits are what the 60's cars were run off. Many have the intermediate pulley that some dealer installed York compressors used.

The rest is all about getting the parts rebuilt, they wear out, and are hard to get for the various kinds of Paxton blower, and that's why when you find them as new old stock or used, they end up being more expensive than the later new ones.
