Hey guys, I need a new carb for my 66 mustang, iv been told that I cannot put a holley 2bbl 350cfm because it will not fit with the log of the 1966 head, iv been told to just get another head from a newer six. I plan to do that eventually, and get it bored and played with, but I currently do not have the money to do both at the same time. I also understand that i will need a distributor from a later mustang because the ignition from the 66's are not as effective. If anyone has any info on how to get an old head from a more recent 6, pref. from 1970-80, or how to get a distributor, prefebly in north texas, pm me, or just reply, any suggestions on doing all of this. Im also planing on getting headers, anyone that has a 66 that put the ones from ford six please speak to me. [/b]

Howdy Red;

While you're waiting for a reply you might want to check your local recycle yards for an appropriate donor car. If you can find a '78 - '80s Fairmont or Granada (or their Mercury counterpart) with rear end damage you will have your source. This donor would be the ideal builder head and it will have the DS II ignition system you will want. Most salvage yards here are quite reasonable in pricing the head and ignition on these vehicles as they are most likely going to the crusher. I have paid as much as $50.00 for anything I wanted to take off.

If you don't like old, dirty parts check with your local NAPA store (or checkers/shucks/autozone) and ask for iginition parts from a '78 fairmont 3.3. You will need distributor, adapter and cap, plug wire, coil, module and wiring harness.

Hope that helps you to get started.

Adios, David
