Ok, i've searched for some information and haven't found anything on it so i thought it was time to start a conversation. I have a 65' econoline previously changed into a 200c.i. from the original 170c.i.... I read infomation that said 200's need a harmonic balancer so i purchased a new one and put it on. I was just installing the water pump pully and fan. Now I find my water pump pully and harmonic balancer are touching. The water pump pully has CODE 8509A stamped on it. Could anyone tell me what i can do to help my situation. Are there differant water pump pullies that are used?

thanks

Thanks for the information rick, thats a great page. So now i know what i've got and have a queastion as to what i should do. I have a large diameter double groove pulley and a "short" water pump. Is there a smaller diameter fan pulley that will work with this pump, line up with the big balancer, and not touch each other...thanks again guys

Sorry i forgot to mention that i have no need for the double groove pulley, but since i've payed for it i wish to use it..thanks

I don't know how much room you have in front of the fan in an econoline. If there is room, it would be time and cost effective to pick up a new late water pump, and get a two or three groove late pulley from the junkyard.

I've never seen one in person, but people have said there are early short pump double groove pulleys that fit with a late damper.
Hens teeth, if they actually exist.

Some options if there is no room would be having a custom pulley turned. This is an expensive option for people that don't have machinist relatives. I had grand ambitions of having a few dozen turned by some starving machinists in the area, but the economy took a bit of an upswing in that field last year and nobody would do a run for a reasonable price.

Mike at FSPP sells (or sold) a double groove small damper.

Using a larger late damper and pulley does have the added benefit of turning the water pump a bit faster.
