weber carb info.

does anyone have any experience with weber carbs? i am thinking of trying one on my 64 223.but i am curious if one of vintage speeds 2bolt to 4 bolt adapter will work. this is the adapter i am talking about.

Will the stromberg 97's work on this engine? Why are the strombergs so darn expensive? I have two that need to be rebuilt, and had no idea that they were worth close $100 each. I almost tossed them in the trash.

The Stromberg 97's should work on that engine, but probably will be too tall in a passenger car.

97s are expensive because the old nostalga hot rodders want them. They were in demand in the 30s, 40s, and 50s (before four barrels) because they were easy to install in a multi carb application and get to work decently. The power valve in the 97s is much less trouble prone in multi carb setups than the other available Ford two barrel, the Chandler-Groves / Ford / Holley carb. Some people mistake the Chandler-Groves / Ford / Holley two barrel for a Stromberg.

Stromberg 97s require a special tool to remove some part I forgot the name of. If you try to rebuild one, be careful.

Stromber 97s were factory equipment on Ford V8s from mid '35 to the end of '38, give or take a couple months.
