Weird Jet problem with Autolite 1100

I am having a problem that I hope you guys can help with. Would really appreciate any advice!

I have a recently rebuilt autolite 1100 carb on my 1967 mustang with 200 six cylinder. This is actually a NOS carb that I rebuilt myself just because it was old but it had never been used. The car is having a very rough idle (shakes) and dies on deceleration. I’m pretty sure that if I can get a smooth idle it will run fine.
I have checked all systems and it seems like the issue is with the carb. I have had this car since 2000 so pretty familiar with the basics of points, timing, spark, adjusting the carb idle screw etc. Dwell is correct, timing is right on, has good spark, correct voltage at coil… etc

When I take the top off the carb shouldn’t I be able to blow through the fuel jet with my mouth? This is with the jet screwed into the top.
When I first take the top of the carb I cannot blow through the jet. If I unscrew the jet I can blow through it by itself. After I put it back on the top of the carb I can blow through it while screwed to top.

There is no crud that I can see. In the past I have replaced the fuel tank, blown out the lines and both fuel filters are fairly new. There is no crude in the carburetor bowl that I can see.

What do you think? What would cause me not to be able to blow through the jet? Last time I took the top off and cleared the jet it ran great for a little bit then same problem...

Thanks

There is a check ball that controls flow of fuel to the jet. It is possible the ball is getting stuck and preventing the fuel from flowing.

Hmmm.

This is inside the top of the carb? How do I go about lubricating this check ball?

I just put the top back on the carb and it seemed to idle smooth for about 5 minutes or so then I ran it at a higher idle for a while and revved it a few times and now it idles like crap again.

I am willing to pull top of carb again and figure out how to free this check ball. Can you tell me how to go about freeing this?

Thanks a lot

Pulled off the top again and this time the passage was free and I could blow though it. Now I'm thinking this is not the issue? Anyhow I will start a new thread with more detail and hopefully you guys can help me fix this thing. Really have no idea what is wrong with this thing.
