welsh plugs for caruraters

does anyone know where to get those little silver buggers at,,every carbs gottem ,,but it seems no one sells them

never seen them being advertized or listed.

there are two types, most were made from lead, some from aluminum (some passages in early carbs are also plugged with brass plugs). Some rebuild kits, like for carter RBS, also have a spare aluminum plug for the center pickup, which houses acc. pump, emulsifier tube and power valve.

turning new ones from bar stock aluminum on a small engine lathe would be one solution once you got the old plugs out.

Also, JBweld can be used to some extent to seal old, leaky plugs.

Careful when drilling out the old plugs, as it is easy to damage the carb core, and lead is a pretty nasty neurotoxin as well.
