What 300 parts to start with??

Hey guys, wondering if I can borrow some info?? I want to make some power out of a 300, for tractor pulling. For the class I'm going to run it in, its a lot like a drag motor, high rpms, and fast. For doing a buildup, what is the best head I should get for the 300 to start with? How about blocks, any better than another? Are there any cranks that are better? I have been reading a little about the crossflow heads on here, were there any crossflows that fit the 300 at all, and if so, where in the U.S. could a guy get one? I would really appreciate any help and advice from you guys, thanks in advance!!

head - i dunno, it's been discussed once or twice, but i don't remember what was decided
whatever you choose, it'll need some shaping of the bowls (unshrouding of the valves, etc.)

Block - i don't think there has ever been a bad year, there might be a difference for a carbed Vs. an EFI just for the fuel pump mount, but i'm not sure

Crank - check out the FAQ in the 240-300 section, there's the HD crank, which is probably your best bet

Crossflow - Ford Motorsport made a crossflow head with (i think) Alan Johnson, no provisions for coolant flow, so it's a drag only head

Thats an interesting sounding head! If anyone knows where one is, or info about them, I'd love to hear it! Just for future knowledge, what kind of horsepower have any of you guys seen come out of a natural aspirated 300??

how much money do you want to spend?
i know one guy here had his dyno'd at about 250, but torque was at about 320 or more...

Well, I know it's going to cost some bucks, but hey, thats what it takes to win, along with a lot of time, and self ingenuity! We intend to run three side drafts on it, no one else is doing it yet. Needs to run in the 6000 rpm area. Will most likely run on alcohol. The motor will have to have all the goodies, thats why I'm here, to learn from those who have experience with them! More info the better, knowledge is power!!
