what has happened?

ok i had to replace the hold down clamp for the dist, as the previous one let it move around a few deg. so i got a new clamp but can not get the distributer back to the origonal pos. so i pulled out the dist to have a look and now i can not even get it to sit back dow in the hole. it goes in past the cam gear but it is like i can not get the hex drive from the oil pump to go into the bottom of the dist. can someone please help me as i just can't think of what to do?

If the gear is engaged but the oil pump drive isn't, just bump the starter. It'll pull the dizzy right in, slicker than MOS2.
