1) 1980 Ford Mustang hatchback, curb weight of 2866lbs. Advertised .41cd
2) stock 200 cid I6 1bbl carb
3) C4 automatic
4) 2.73: 7.5" rear
5) 87 octane
6) P215/60-HR14 tires, slightly over inflated. 2 1/4" exhaust split to duel exhaust after muffler. Emissions crap removed.
7) City mileage unknown/ 28 mpg highway

I used to drive 70 miles a day 6 days a week to work before I got laid off.

I based my mileage off the size of the tank, how much I put in, and mileage on trip odometer at time of next refill. I purposefully let car run as close to empty as I dared to see how much I could get in the tank.

change to a capri, with a .30 overboare, and stock exaust, minus emmisions and a c4 with a shift kit, 22-26 hwy and 12-18 city depending on how right footed I was.

1) Make/Model car: 1983 Ford LTD
2) Engine Size: 200
3) Tranny type: C3
4) Rear End Gear Ratio: stock
5) Fuel type - 87 Octane
6) Mods (if any): none except for swapping out stock wheels for a set of 14x7 chrome wheels with 60 series tires
7) MPG City/Highway: 15/20

I don't drive it much only because it seems to get the same mileage as my Camaro, so no point in driving it if I'm not saving anything

7) 20+ mpg mixed, 300 miles/week commute

I'm with you Cobrasix - anal about my records. Logged every mile on the Falcon since I bought it. I've chucked the numbers into excel so I can do the maths nice and easy.

1) Make/Model car : 66 Falcon 2dr Hardtop (Australian)
2) Engine Size : 170
3) Tranny type : BW35 I think (Fordomatic 3S)
4) Rear End Gear Ratio : 3.2:1
5) Fuel type (octane rating) : 91 (lowest available here)
6) Mods (if any) : rebuilt Feb, Crow Cam
7) MPG City/Highway : Ave 19 MPG (US Gal) 22.8 MPG (imp) since rebuild

Mixed driving with my work commute being mainly highway and my wife using the car around town. Best tank = 20.8mpg worst 17.2.

The rebuild and cam seem to have gained me about 2.5% on the mpg so I'm saving around $1.35 a tank (so it's gonna take a long time to repay the engine at that rate ;)). Would have hoped for a bit better really. Not saving much on the 200s and 250s by the looks, but sure losing out on the power. Gotta get me some electronic sparks methinks.
