what should i do with my extra head

I have an extra engine that has been sitting outside in the rain. Would it be a good idea to take that headbead blast it, set it up for a direct mount 2bbl holley 2300, roller rockers, all that good stuff and just change the head out when i wanted the performance for a weekend of fun, or just do all that and leave it on all the time? Or should I just toss it with the rest of the engine

I would just leave it on. Why go through the hassle of swapping the head on the weekends. You would have quite a bit tied up in head gaskets.

I'm definitly keeping the head, the head is off a 67 200cid mustang. Is that the same as the head on the 66 200? if not is there any advantages or disadvantages?

Oh and yes i am a male

Howdy Bergerfromage:

The '66 and '67 heads are nearly identical. The only advantage would be to do all the head mods, fabrication and adapting, machining and finishing at your leasure, then installing at you choice of time and place. That's a good idea!

You can do all the mods to the '67 head, but you will still be down in intake tract volume when compared to a '78 or later 200/250 head. The '78 and later head will already have a 1.75 intake valve and hard valve seats.

The volume comparison is aprox 1100 ccs for the '66/'67 heads to 1275/1300 ccs for the later heads. The extra volume is an asset at higher rpms.

Other than this, It's your choice.
