I have a 250 single exhaust six. Im going to buy the 6-2 Clifford headers, and have the exhaust run out of the side. ( Im buying the headers and exhaust tips). Im going to run it without mufflers. How much??? I got quoted $600. That sounds outragious. (exhaust tips will be flat ovals that are powdercoated black. They will go w/ the gray and black great.)

No mufflers!? Do you have any idea how loud that will be? You know that scene in Frankenstein where the villagers attack the castle with pitchforks and torches? Now imagine your neighbors..... :?

The side exhaust idea is ok, but can be a little on the smelly side. Exit out the rear is better. If you are set on doing it, grab a pair of Flowmasters or Turbos that have the inlet and exhaust on the same end. Then you can hang the muffs in the stock location under the rear seat and run the outlet out the side. Much better sound and you won't deafen yourself.

How about using a 69 shelby center dump exhaust in the rear?

And yes, $600 is way too much. A lot of times you'll get a place that will toss out an outrageous price because they really don't want to do the work. So they give you a silly price and hope you go away. And if you don't, well, ka-ching..... Find another shop, get another estimate.

$600 seems very high. I just installed a pacemaker header from Ford Six Parts. $245.00 The Y pipe for single exhaust 20.00 Exhaust manifold gasket and asorted bolts 25.00 and $150.00 for a new 2" exhaust pipe, Walker Turbo muffler and a nice chrome tip installed by a muffler shop. so lets see thats about. $500 with shipping costs.

On the other hand, i can always add mufflers. I could care less about my neighbors too.

Do you think the shelby exhaust would look good???? I was going to get the flat oval tips shown on this site. Then get them powdercoated.http://www.stainlessworks.net/Exhaust Tips.htm

<added> actually the shelby exhaust would not work with the tailight panel i have. the shelby has the license plate where my gas fill is.

I know prices differ across the country but i had a set of 2-1/2 duals with turbo mufflers installed for 250.00 IT was a awsome job. The pipes are snug towards the body and the mufflers do not hang down. I have used this guy on several cars and he does all of the 5.0 s for the mustang shop down the road.

600 is easily double what that should cost... especially since your estimate included no mufflers....

I am running a Dual 65 GT setup on mine... all the way back, two mufflers, and out through the valance...

A lot more metal, and they are running custom pipes to the mufflers...
$375.00

Side pipes no mufflers off a dual... stay under 300.00 look around I had three Midas shops quote me drastically different prices. I went with a local smaller independant shop... guys were nice.

I think that mo mufflers and whistle tips would be a kick a$$ setup! LOL

Don't care about the neighbor's huh? :nono: If you lived next to me you'd come out in the morning to find that someone filled up the entire exhaust system with a can of insta-foam. Without the restriction of mufflers, a little tube could be snaked up all the way to the header to make sure the entire system is well taken care of

Must have been those damn teenagers again

Did you say two 2 1/2 dual pipes. Ive got one 2 1/2 on mine two must sound great.

With my 2 1/2 single and one muffler I cant imagine anyone would want it louder than this, it can get I bit annoying at times compensated with a nice deep note though.

They allow straight pipes in So Cal! :o Oh man, I would love to hear mine if I could do that. GA is strict, though you can just have glass packs and pipes. As for Midas, I don't trust them and the manager I talked to on the installation didn't give a rat's ass about what I wanted. He said he could get me mufflers and then he said he couldn't. He didn't want to fool around with the header, even though it would on the block. Asshats! Custom muffler shop, hear I come!

I think anything over 2" on a dual is too much.. I am trying to stay under 2"...
and it all depends on the Midas... I have found some good ones... it's all about who owns it...

Curious if you are talking about the one off Fairmont Rd. going into D'ville though...?

You mean Fairburn Rd... yeah that one. I can't deal with stupidity. So I'll send my ride down to the custom muffler shop acrross from Greystone Power. At least they know what they are talking about.

Too bad that spray foam doesn't work on car stereos, the ones with 9 million watts of Snoop Dog thumping through the neighborhood!
LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES!!!!

I know it has been said, but let me say it again... $600 for the exhaust lines is a SUPREME RIP-OFF!!!
I have dual 2 1/2" lines running to two flowmaster mufflers with chrome exhaust tips and it only cost me $260 (although most places quoted me $350 for the same set up - this guy was a friend).

and let me also say this... I fired up my car with the Cliffy 6 into 2 headers on it before I put my pipes and mufflers on it... Daytona 500, first row seats.

I was also going to try a few places in Dallas....?
