can you get a better picture?
one with a ruler would prolly solve all suspicions, i would say that it's an oil seal for the crank, but the size of those lines makes me think it's too small

part of an o-ring?
got any bad leaks?

ok I'll take a few more right now

doh, batteries need to be recharged in camera.

heres a few more pics though.

edit-damn bad links

Its basically almost half of some ring or something.

I don't know what it is, It could be something that broke off when the jackasses that installed my parts did the work. If it is something that broke when they swapped the cam then I wouldn't be surprised if they just left it in the oil pan.

Whatever it is, is it something that wouldn't necessarily keep the engine from running?

Oil pressure according to SunPro is between 50 and 60 most of the time.

any more info you can give would help too
fer instance, why'd you have the pan off?

i got no clue, but one of these guys will prolly look at just that first pic and say "oh, it's the gobbledy-gook that holds in the spranna-frammer"

changed the pan to put that OZ one. looked pretty sweet and worked good too till my brother jacked the car up on the fkin pan. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Still works though  Good OZ construction

Heres some more pics, like I said, found it in the oil pan. Its metal, broken-whatever it is.

edit-ok yahoo must change the address of my pics.

Looks like a rear main seal to me also!

Now since it's impossible for them to just fall out....how did they get there??

Yours must still be in place or you would loose most of your oil in a very short time!!! :D :D

i was thinking rear main as well.... but it's not even 1.5" in diameter, who has a crank that small?
plus, aren't oil seals made of rubber? he says it's metal.....

a mystery to me

If thats true, then the only other thing it could be is parts of the front cover seal that goes on the front cover around the crank snout that sticks out behind the harmonic balancer.

Same thing applies....no seal, massive oil leak! :D :D

So do you think it could've fallen through to the pan? I've never had a massive leak with it so it could've just broke off and they just replaced it.

Its nothing related to the support of the camshaft? because that is what I was fearing the whole time.

I'm thinking thrust washer or a shim of some sort. Are the edges jagged like it broke in half? That is the way it appears in the photo. Maybe someone dropped something in the pan totally unrelated to the engine last time it was off?

Thats a definite possibility. If so then it has been in there since the early/mid nineties.

The edges are jagged, you could cut yourself up pretty bad on it.

If it is a thrust washer or shim then would the engine still run?

it looks like the thrust washer that goers on the front of the camshaft. i broke mine last night trying to get out the dowl pin on the end of the camshaft. do you guys know where you can get a new one
thanks Shawn
