Which Button-Up Kit?

I know both the engine bolt kits in the mustang shop are good and this is more of a preference issue than any other. I am getting close to putting the 200 together and have done some coating and painting of parts......A little chome a bit more ceramic aluminum and lots of great corporate ford blue paint. I can't decide between the polished/unpolished hex---the p/unp allen head. I would like the polished but money is a little tight---can do it, but need help deciding. Yea, I know sounds trivial but details sometimes count once you have it all together!

Darwin, I went with a pollished hex set that I got off eBay. But I'm only going to be using PART of the set. For header bolts I got a set of Breslins from Mike, and I'm using chrome 'T' handle bolts for the valve cover.

Going for that maximum BLING effect. I DID get the stainless alternator bracket from the Mustang Shop though.

Honestly, I like the allen head. But, I do sell more hex head. As for polished or not it is preference. When all the fasteners are in place you can not really tell if they are polished or not.

You can just save your money and get the unpolished kit and just polish the bolts that you want yourself with a dremel or drill and some Mothers Polish. The look is almost the same as using a buffer.

As for the one's on Ebay I sold him the kit a long time ago so he could get the specs on all the bolts. :) He know sells the hex unpolished kits, I think.

The only difference between my bolts and other stainless bolts (not all) is that you can not see the markings on the hex head. They are sanded down which makes for a cleaner look.

Hmmmmm.... I didn't know that you had totally blank heads on your bolts. That would look nice. I like the look of the allen head, but I chose the hex head set because I'm concerned that an allen bolt may be difficult to remove in a few years without stripping the allen hole.

On a reated subject, has anybody ever done a head to head (Pun intended) test between the Stage 8 and Breslin header fasteners? I bought a set of Breslins from Mike, but the Stage 8 look interesting. I'm wondering which wil hold up better, and more importantly, will be easier to remove after the header has been on for a while.

Kris, both the Stage 8 and the Breslin are quality parts. I posted on this subject a long time back when Breslin started selling them in the mainstream.

Here is "MY" opinion. The Stage 8's have the locking clamp which holds them in place. The Breslin have basically a set screw. So over time if you remove your headers alot "I" think the the outer bolt may loose its strength. The set screw opens then outer bolt up when you tighten it down. (Make sense?) So that bolt is basically opening and closing. Now if you do not remove your headers alot you may have the same problem as you posted in the previous post. You might have a hard time removing that set screw.

Some people with V8's do not like that Stage 8 because they have a hard time installing them in cramp engine bays. But, with our engines it is not a problem.

Also, as far as I know, Mike has not had any problems with the Breslin.
I think he carries them because he thinks they are cool. Plus he didn't want to sell the same product I was selling.

Again as with almost any other product it is preference. They both do the job they were designed to do.
