in one week only,,,

they warped the sump
they warped and stuffed up my exhaust manifald

previously every other part of the build also went wrong, the paint job still isn't finished,

intercooler end tanks were f****d,

are all these people stupid, can anyone just do their job w/o stuffing up?
are people getting their licences from cereal boxes?

i now know why v8s are so easy, everything is of the shelf.

If you want someone to do something properly, D.I.Y.

I'd rather mess up three times and get what I want, than trust someone to do it right.

The amount of times I've explained at length after people have messed up badly after them telling me 'yeah, I know all that, just leave it with me'. It's bascially an 85% failure rate.

Unless you have a contract, don't bother having someone do anything for you. Half $ to start, other half on completing, a writen instruction with dimensions and items of key importance and deliver time by mutal consent.

People are a bit put -off, but reasonable if you are specific at the get go. After you've comissioned work, they can then do what the heck they like if you have no contract.

I know,

I'm a contractor.

Sounds like my last diff build. I'm at the point of considering welding kit myself. Never wanted to go there, but problems like these are too common now, too slow to fix, too expensive to wear.

Sorry to hear it's happening to someone else.

Personally, I believe some people carry their prejudices into the job. From an artisan's point of view, that's poor form. Michaelangelo didn't exactly get along fine with some of the head honchos in the Vatican - but did he do a crap job on their ceiling? No way.

Me too...

You have to think your way through a project.

If you can't see your way thru to the otherside, don't start. That requires that you identify the risks (or at least try to) before you start. Reduce or minimize the unknowns.

Easy to say... I've been bitten plenty of times.
