X or H pipe on dual 200?

8) what i would suggest is to use the Y pipe that classicinlines sells. that way you come from a dual outlet header, into a single muffler, then use another Y pipe and run duals out from there. it is an inexpensive way to get the same advantage of using an X pipe, and save some money at the same time.

Go duals with a NO pipe LOL. I went dua out headers with no cross pipe and LOVED the way it sounded. Flowmaster drone isnt for everyone, but i personally LOVE to hear my car and know others can too lol. I dont run mufflers anymore after the turbo and Ill tell you i definitely miss my ole Flowmasters

I am currently running a 200 ci 6 in my coupe with a clifford dual outlet long tube header, 2. 1/4 in piping and dual Flowmaster 40 series and at certain speeds the resonance absolutely kills me I get headaches if I drive for more than an hour LOL.
In Retrospect an H-pipe, X-pipe, or SOME sort of Cross over would have been wise To take out most of the noise but at what length back from the outlet of the headers would be optimum and get rid of the resonant frequencies that ale me.
All of it wont matter in the comming months I getting ready to finish my 250 ci six which will be turbo charged and have a single outlet.

I am running FRPP/ Stingers on my 07 GT/CS, and the drone at about 1800 RPM's is killer and not in a good way... rattles the teeth..LOL
If it is worse that that I will add the cross pipes in. If any less, I can live with it. Don't plan on driving the 66 all that much at higher RPMs. I plan on using it as a commuter for my 4 mile daily drive in the warmer months.

I've got a Flowmaster American Thunder 2.5" exhaust system. It's for the V8. I'm going to adapt it to my six to work with the Cliffford 2.5" long tube headers. I think I'll let the H-Pipe open. I still can close it, if it's to quiet

I lot of different combo's, that's for sure...I have a Clifford dual outlet too...the muffler shop cut a X pipe in half after the header which allowed for a single 2.5" tubing into a Magna Flow 3" SS muffler, hey, I had one on the shelf so I used it...on the outlet I stepped down to a 2 1/4" tail pipe...at idle it sounds stock, but going down to freeway just sounds sooo sweet...not very loud but just enough to know I'm there...engine is a 212ci with a big cam and valves with roller rockers.
I will agree that flowmasters can resonate and become irritating at times...you can control this a little with a baffled tip.

After my rebuild, I have FRPP and went with an H pipe with dual out. I used Flowmaster's mounted like the V8's and the sound is great and no drone.
Unless you have some serious mods, either X or H will work fine for you. Its all about balance. Again, unless you are way serious, you probably wouldn't know the difference between the two for performance, maybe..MAYBE sound but I doubt it.

I doubt it will be too quiet. I like the usual volume of the 40's at idle and at wide open throttle. It's just that at certain RPMs, there is a large, unwarranted spike in the noise, and it is right around where i like to drive. The H pipe solves that spike without affecting much else.
