Looks like snake oil to me. I am skeptical of most claims like this as a matter of principle.

The ads claim things that aren't physically possible, far as I know.

I agree. Somehow this magic "worn metal attractant" knows to build up metal in friction spots like cylinder walls (and stop when they are healed and the friction diminishes), but knows not to keep building and building in spots where high friction is always present (like non-roller camshaft lobes).
