xflow roller rockers

I am looking for some info on using roller rockers in my 200 xflow (ironhead ).I was told that I should convert from the pedestal mount rockers to 7/16 stud mount, and was wondering if this is the way to go ? Any information on the best way to go on this? I live in the STATES and was planning on using Cleveland rockers ect.Conp Cams has a kit to convert Cleveland pedestal mount to stud mount does anyone know if this will work on a crossflow 200 ? Thanks, Mike

7/16" studs work well. Cleveland roller rockers will fit as they are the same rockers (roller or not). Springs, retainers and lifters are all the same. Even the aftermarket guideplates will fit, although the stud spacing is the same, the guideplate slots are at different angles. It just requires you to separate each guideplate from twin to single (ie 1 cylinder per plate to individual pushrods). Don't forget to replace the standard valve spring retainers with aftermaket units as the standard ones can crack on the underside. Crane chrome moly ones I have had good experience with. Other than that, the valvetrain has no problems.

The alloy head has a tendency to pull the studs out. The stock cast iron head arrangement can hold the stock stud in just fine. I've not heard tell of any problems with it.

200 X-flows are under less stress than the 250 X-flow becasue there is less cranking compression and vibration. You'll find the 200 x-flow is a slighly noisy but very smooth engine with good power and great torque. Rev limit it up to about 5500 rpm without problems. The 250 finds it hard to go above 5000 rpm reliably.

Thanks for the information, I found some extruded aluminum roller rockers that are pedestal mount so I may just stick with the pedestal mount and keep things simple instead of changing to studs. Cheers, Mike
