I have found a xflow C4 bell but no plate. will these plates work? If not does anyone have a cad drawing of one or can someone help me out?

Starting to get close to some real progress here!

the top plate is the same for all factory transmissions. i'm pretty sure the bottom plate is the same also.

The 2nd.gunman is indeed right. After about 1970, all auto and manual sandwich / block / separator plates were the same. Earlier ones from 1966 to 1970 were thicker when used with a manual transmission.

From the seven Ford sixes I've dismantled lately, I've got heaps of spare ones I can send you if your comfortable sending me your details. Normally, air mail is about 5 days. Price is about $ 10 US dollars, which you can donate to Fordsix.com.

PM me. I'm nervous about sending things overseas, so I'd rather send something free than face the embarasment of it not arriving! I did send an EGR blankoff plate a while back to Speedy.

Until my company is up and okay with Uncle Sam, I'm not happy charging anything. I'm still developing parts at the moment using a check cashed in 2004, and I'm not doing anything for anyone until I've squared off that item or I'll get into trouble with Uncle Sam.

Over here they charge about 35 to 60 Kiwi dollars for the C4, Borg Warner 35 and 40 separator plates, but the cost varies depending on who is selling. Since there were over 2 million big 3.3 and 4.1 Aussie Falcon sixes made (some in land fills!), then I don't see why I should be stingy.

I have a US AOD transmission on my Aussie X-flow, and use only US backing plates on mine!

Ok I am confused :? (which seems to be the case almost all the time with the xflow) Will either of those plates in the pic work for me with a C4 bell? If not I would be more the willing to take you up on your offer and make another donation to ford six.

You can't see the wood for the trees! :P It's really simple. If it fits the bell and the back of the motor, use it. Your donk came with a BW auto so the sandwich plate will be correct as stands. I have a good collection of stuff too, and am yet to find the thicker one that X mentions. Differences I have noted mainly apply to impressed reliefs above the crankshaft, probably to better clear a welsh plug or casting boss.

Also, the lower inspection covers are interchangeable through all models '66-'87. There are again minor cosmetic issues but they fit.

You know a SBF starter fits? It only uses two of the holes but it works.

Let me know what engine mounts you are using. I'm curious.

I will try to use the mounts that are on the crossflow or else the 200 mounts look close.

Me too

I've got a Crossflow in the 1970 ZC Cruiser - used the bits from the XF Falcon to mount the engine.

Had to drill a couple of holes in the crossmember to bolt the stands on and, since the XF engine mount plates are about an inch further apart than the ZC, I had to drill an extra set of holes in the engine brackets half an inch further down to make it all fit - works perfectly - I've had an EFI manifold on and the bonnet still shuts...

Just starting a ZD conversion to EFI 250 now, so I guess I'll be doing it all again - the shell I have had aftermarket A/C installed and you wouldn't believe it but the two holes where the hoses went through are the right size and spacing so that if I cut out the metal between them, I'll be left with an oval hole the exact size I need for the EFI loom grommet!!

That must be like some sort of inverse Murphy's law in action...

The first of the 66 to 67 XR Falcons had the thick snadwhich plate which bolted up the the non syncro 3-speed manual.

All else is similar, just as Addo says.

All paths lead to Dearborn. For the scrambling of parts which work in our favour, Ford deserve a medal
