cost 15 bucks with a 6 dollar switch. its fairly loud though, but at least it doesnt have to be on all the time, i want to buy a switch that turns on and off with the heat of the engine so i dont need to flick any switches, not sure what they cost but I'll find out sooner or later. i dont feel a whole lot of difference...actualy my engine runs cooler if i keep it running cause my heater doesnt heat up the same. theres a little bit of difference in power but not a lot since its a fairly heavy car. i had to install it as a pusher cause its too big to fit between the engine and the rad...its from a newer 3.8L taurus and blows quite a bit of air. havent done a whole lot else though cause i have another project car and its too cold and snowy to do anything in.

make sure you use a relay. a switch will burn up quickly from the high current goin through it. if you do some homework you could get a fan switch off a later ford or gm car along with the pigtail for it (an 80's era car) I bought the painless kit for $60 or something and prob would get a junkyard switch and pigtail. their kit uses a spade connector on a tab coming off the switch. poor protection form being broken off/bent

a relay is a different type of switch right? i used a different switch than what i normally use, it had only 2 attachment points both are for the positive...I have an 8gauge wire running from the batt. to the switch and then from the switch again i have a smaller wire that i got with a light kit (not sure on the guage) its pretty heavy duty compared to a regular switch (I've experienced the switch failure with it) the regular switch that im talking about is the one that u attach both ground and positive to as well as the source u are powering. this switch just is fo break and connect the power...the ground is connected to the chassis with 8 gauge wire as well. is this good? if not I'll look around. thanks for the advice.

How did you install it as a pusher?
Is the blade assembly reversible?
I had a Sable with the 3.8 and have been thinking of installing a fan from one in my 82 Futura, but when I put in the 250 this spring/summer I won't have enough room between the radiator and the engine.

the blade is not reversable on the fan (i tried to see) i took off my grill and a few suppost pieces that get in the way betweet the grill and the radiator and then i stuck the fan in there, i couldnt center it or anything, but the fan being reversed by changing the + and - around (wasnt sure if it was allright to do this but its been running fine for about 5 days now with no problems) let me flip the entire fan around...the air isnt concentrated in the center when u do this because of the way the fan blades are, but the plastic shield is cupped so the air runs out sideways and allong the shield so the air flows pretty much around the entire radiator (held a piece of paper on the other side of the radiator to see where the airflow was most concentrated) so with the fan being flipped around i drilled a few holes and bolted it straight on to the frame that goes around the radiator. I wanted to see how well it cooled since i dont have a gauge yet so i let the car warm up for awhile without the fan running and the radiato cap off. I waited till the water was almost too hot to touch and then turned on the fan..withing a couple minutes the water was quite cool to the touch...so it works pretty good, and i dont idle or drive with the fan on in this cold weather up in canada...but i think the fan should be fine in the summer. oh yea...and with the fan flipped around the wind will take the fan and spin it without it having to be on, cooling your engine as if the fan were on...when i hit the highway the car cools down a fair bit because of that. when i get a gauge i can get some readings.
