Retainers and Keepers for my 200 head

I am putting my rebuilt head back together to go on my 170 block. The head is from a 200 head. I have some stock 302 springs that I would like to use on this head. Can I use my retainers and locks from the 200 head with these springs? The motor have a mild Isky cam .450 lift - 252 duration (202 @.050" lift).

Please let me know.

8) assuming that you are using the stock valves, the keepers are fine. an d assuming the retainers fit the valve springs properly, they are also good to go.

302 springs, keepers, and retainers can be used.

Depending on how much money you have to spend some guys are using 4.0L V6 retainers because they are lighter.

302 valves have 11/32 stems and a 200 has 5/16 IIRC, so changing retainers and locks will not be a direct swap.

4.0 retainers will not work with 302 springs.
I had to turn down my retainers to get the springs I ordered from Mike to fit.

You might also want to check the assembled height with a valvespring micrometer- 302 springs sit higher with the 4.0 retainers.
