‘74 250 - camshaft gear bolt

Pulling my cam to replace with a higher performance one. The camshaft gear bolt is something unusual, either a 12 point or a Torx head bolt, about 12 mm / 7/16 - is that oem? If not, it seems that my machine shop got creative or just used what they had in their toolbox when they installed it.

Bob, The Ford oem bolts were an interference fit. Use the same bolt, but use red locktite when installing. I believe it required 70 FT pounds of torque.
67 mustang,C-4, with mod. 80 hd, custom 500 cfm carb with annular boosters, hooker headers, dual exh.-X pipe, flowmaster mufflers, DSII dist. MSD-6425CL & MSD-Blaster 8252 Coil. Engine 205" .030" over with offset ground crank & 1.65 roller rockers. 9.5 comp., Isky 262 cam.

Thanks for the information. I finally got it out, it seems like a 7/16” NC. But is the 12 point 11 mm head oem?

I believe its 5/8" wrench 6 point.
