1 to 2bbl carb adapter and throttle cable?

Ok, I am about 8 hours from home and the engine :( but only about 2 hours from Summit Racing in McDonough, Ga. :D
I have a 2bbl carb from a 82 302, jet size cast into the side says 1.08. The car is a 66 stang with the orig motor.
If I go to Summit, what adapter should I get, TRD-2044 or the other 1-2bbl adapter, what throttle cable should I get (what else would I need to do for a throttle upgrade), and since I have an automatic, what kick down thingy should I try and find? :?:

thanks for the info

the adapter depends on what year head you have... if you have the big log head with the wider opening get the bigger of the two, if you have the spaller opening get the smaller adapter

Some good info in this post:

[Update: Sorry - I missed that you had the #'s.]

TRD-2044 description:
Carburetor Adapter, Open Center, Holley 2-Barrel Carburetor/Small 1-Barrel Manifold, 1.75 in. Thick, Kit

TRD-2041 description:
Carburetor Adapter, Ported, Holley 2-Barrel Carburetor/Large 1-Barrel Manifold, 1.125 in. Thick, Kit

PS: Did some more searching.
Found a response of Dave's...

FoMoCo moved up to the larger throttle bore carbs and to a 1.75" carb hole in the log during the '69 year on some castings. By '70 all heads were the larger hole size.

in this post http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... ld+opening

So, looks like if it's the original '66 head then you have the smaller manifold hole, and so you want the TRD-2044.

Cable:
Summit sells the Lokar which a number of people on the site have used.

I did a search on Lokar but I don't see that anyone's specifically noted which length cable they used... wait found one indicating the 36".

Slade/CobraSix indicated he got a 48" and then cut it to length. He also mentions that he used a V8 pedal with the cable.

Also read (and it may have been Slade again) that you'll probably want to get the throttle cable bracket that goes on the carb. For the Holley it's LOK-SRK-4000.

FYI: Another post by wsa111 has full details on setting up a mechnical linkage with much detail:

Ok picked up the smaller of the two 1-2bbl adapters. I also picked up the 48" throttle cable and the Lokar cable mounting brackets. Looking at this cable, cutting it can be done?
Also, the 2bbl carb I have for the swap is off a 82 255 V-8, not the 302, well, its actually is a 302, just reversed engineered for the emissions stuff I think.
So now all I can do is wate till I get back home to start this conversion.

you should be able to cut the cable with a tinsnips or heavy duty wire cutters

If it's a braided sheath, wrap it very firmly in a double layer of heavy paper masking tape. Then trim with a junior hacksaw (the one with a fine-pitched 6" blade).

If you pull the cable back at the fixed end, to equal the amount of bare cable needed at both ends when done, you can cut through cable and sheath in one go. Then you push the cable forward again and it's all good. Beats having to "circumcise" the deal.

Regards, Adam.

Alrighty, back home, car still had the the sputtering while stepping on the gas  . Saw in another thread about moving the dizzy one tooth, then someone mentioned just move the plug wires. Well, did the second and she runs great now with the DII dizzy and stock carb :D , won't last long though, :?
I got the adapter and stuff, got both the gaskets for the spacer to intake for the 200 and the carb to intake for the 255. Matched the carb gasket to the 2bbl adapter and ...this carb will fit and will mount like the 2100 carb. Kewl!! after a rebuild and a replacement of the power valve..right? this pony shoud get up and go. :D
Now after or about at the same time, should I also get a duel outlet header? With that I should see some sort of preformance increase right, as far as running and starting up, next step would be a better cam and head work right? :?:

Ok, Linc's 200 thanks for that correction, so is that a good size for a 200 or not.
Well happneess became dispare today, had the stang out for a run to the store, ran real good there. Left the store, she was still runing good, :D stopped at a read light and when it turned green, I steped on the gas and she dies, was a bear to start back up but finally she did and was running rough from there home, about a mile. Humm..... what could cause that? :?:

It is the perfect size!

Did you have to floor it to get it started? (flooded) or pump it a bunch (no fuel)

On the way home was it running rich or lean?

Did you change the power valve yet?

Linc's 200. the 2bbl carb is not on yet. It was doing that with the rebuilt carb from one of the parts stores. Speaking of that power valve, I will need to buy that seperate right, it does not come as part of a rebuild kit right?
I have been looking at how I will need to run the throttle cable, not sure if I can still use the 6cyl peddle set up or try and find a V-8. On that note, could I use a v-8 assy. from any ford car or will it need to be a mustang?
I will also need to trim the 2bbl carb's intake gasket since its a plastic spacer with gasket material on both sides. I will need to cut then sand it down to about a 1/4 inch thick. I beleve with that and removing the ford heater hose spacer, I should be able to get some kind of ait filter on the car.
Anyone know if they make a 1" tall filter but big and round?

So what was it - flooded or not when starting? Rich or lean driving?

It should come with the kit. Carb kits are 100% "you get what you pay for". Get a good one from NAPA or other quality source, DON'T go to the discount auto parts stores or you will have problems!!!!!

Since the carb top is 5" you'll be able to use any 4-bbl air filter assembly. That will help a lot when looking.[/i]

Linc's 200
Not too sure if it was flodded or not, I was in the left turn lane when the arrow was green, she finally started but I had to keep my foot in it just to get it home, and it was dark so I haven't look at her since.

You should be able to tell between running too rich or running too lean
