1960 144 Six in my Comet

I want to dump the merc-o-matic. I have a line on a C4. I found a bellhousing from a 1966 Mustang 200 six. Will this bellhousing work for my 144?

Is it the small bell, or the large bell?

It should be the smaller one (that you need) as I'm pretty sure it wasn't consistent for the blocks to be dual pattern for a year or so after '66.

There probably is, but I don't know it off the top of my head. Maybe a part number on the bell casting?

Hi Addo,did`nt the small bell have 5 mounting bolts to the engine,and the large have 6?Or was that just on the early 289`s.

That was on the bent motors. Sixes had the same bolt count; just that it was raised up on the top two bolts, circa '66.
