1968 dizzy for 200ci question

Earlier this fall, I replaced my Load-a-matic with a rebuilt 68 dizzy for the 200. Well, my vacuum advance was way too much so for the time being it was suggested that I disconnect the vac advance to prevent the major pinging.

I haven't been driving the car since the weather turned cold here, but I have heard of some people mention that some dizzy's have a adjustment screw (hex head) inside the vaccum diaphram. Does my new dizzy have this? Does anyone know what size allen wrench is used and which way do you turn it to lower tha advance?

If the dizzy is an original single vacume advance then yes if it is a dual vacume advance with the manifold vacume plugged off no, sometimes the parts store will give you a dual with one port plugged off. As for allen size, just try them till you find the right one.

question...if the vacuum advance is not hooked up to anything...no hose to carb....does it matter where the secondary vacuum is set?

right now I have the holley 1940...with NO vacuum adjustment on it...so my primary vaccuum is unplugged (open) and the secondary is to manifold

I am still confused if this is OK

car is running like a rocket though. must be the new chrome valve cover

It is the single vacuum advance unit. Thanks. Once I get that set, I should be able to hook the ported vacuum back up to the dizzy again.
