1978 XC GXL long range fuel tank sender

My 1978 XC GXL Long Range fuel tank is not registering, can anyone advise where the sender is and if this is a common problem please.

Is the sender in the fuel tank in that model? Has the wire from the tank disconnected?

That's the question - where is it?

So have you looked on the side of the fuel tank? The obvious place would be where the fuel line comes out as most senders have the fuel hose fitting on them.
