Glad to hear it worked out for you. I often think I need to upgrade to 'newer' because it has to be better but I forget that those folks that designed stuff back then knew what they were doing and as long as the rest of the 'system' is still stock the best 'stock' performance will often be what it came with. When I read all the posts about the DS2 I ran out and bought one and was expecting a dramatic change, it was better but not like some people described. What that tells me is my points were set up right and in good condition and since everything else was orignal it worked fine. Im glad I did it because I hate messing with points. A friend of mine just put a parts store cheapo Edelbrock Q jet on his caddy and was bragging about how crappy the Rochesters were, I asked if I could see his old carb. The throttle bores were wore so bad that the catches and cams were not working at all anymore. The pull off and secondary vac breaks were not working at all (plus the lines to them were hard and cracked). The base gasket was burnt out in 2 spots. Accel pump was shot. He was not running a filter, and the list goes on..... Not that the Edel is a bad carb but you cant compare a worn out abused part to a new part.
