200 / 250 help

Hi, I have a 1967 Falcon coupe, with a 200 in it.
I have a 1974 Australian 250 head laying around (log head not 2v) and I am considering having it milled and putting it on the 200. I have read on here that pre-78 250 heads are the same as the 200 ones, but does this apply to the aussie ones as well?
Thanks, Jack

If its a log head it should be the same as the US logs. If it Aussie the carb flange might be different as they typically used different carbs.

Might be worth looking into getting carb flange milled off and a adapter plate for a Holley or Autolite 2bbl for a nice power upgrade.

Ok, thanks, would it be a good idea to get the head milled as well?

If you are replacing the head gasket with a new one currently available at most US auto parts stores its a good idea to get head milled .060" to regain the compression lost by the new thicker gasket.

You will also need to get hardened washers to place under the head bolts as milling the head will cause the head bolts to bottom out and give you a false torque reading and your gasket wont be compress and seal properly.
