Hello,

My head has cast in guides by the factory. I bought some steal guides for my small log head from rockauto. After visiting my machine shop today and speaking with the machinist I am considering using bronze valve guides. Has anybody a recommendation for bronze valves for a 200 log head?

Thanks.

See if they do 'K-line'. Basically ream out the existing cast iron guide. Insert a thin bronze liner and ream to std valve stem size. Quick and easy. Can even buy kits to do yourself.

Thanks GB500 for the link. Just yesterday I did knurl the guides and reamed them, I will post pictures in the small log head porting thread. Maybe the machinist knows about k line, I will definitely ask him.
One more question: Do the k line inlets need bigger clearances too, like a full bronze valve guide?
Have a good day

They are just a thin wall guide liner compared to the cast iron guides that you now have so most of the heads original cast iron valve guides stay intack. Here is a link to a picture of them they are a little cheaper when bought by the box of 100 too. This is for a set of 16. Best of luck. https://www.cylinderheadsupply.com/kl1841st.html

Hello Bubba,

I just realized my reamer is also from k line, I bought it on cylinderheadsupply also. At the moment I am happy with how the knurling turned out, so I think I will stay with it till the next refresh of the head (hopefully not too soon haha). Thanks to all for your input.
