200 distributer I.D.

Okay, I have a 67 mustang with a 200. The ignition system has been converted (by one of the previous owners) to electric, but still has the "points style" distributer cap and plug wires. My problem is that I want to put in a new cap and rotor, but cannot find the proper cap for my distributer. Mine has two screws on opposite sides where there would normally be clips. Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas on what cap I need to get? I've been to three parts stores, and they all tell me that the only cap they list for a I6 ford is the "clamp on" style. Any help would be appreciated.

p.s. I can't find any idetification on the distributer, but the vaccuum advance attachment is motorcraft.

I have not seen quite that, but we had Bosch distributors in the late '60s where the clips screwed to the outside of the housing, then hinged up. Maybe you are just missing the clips? Or someone has converted it?

Could be some disguised aftermarket distributor.
The bolted-on hinged clamps point towards mallory - for example.

I´ve seen that on a buddies 289, when asked he´d tell that it was a Jacobs distributor he had disguised by filing off all numbers and brand names.

The early Duraspark I caps had 2 screws to hold them on, maybe it's that? Does it have a pertronix inside the dizzy?

From what your describing, it sounds like a DS1, a replacement application would be '74 or '75 200 or 250 (tell em it's for a Maverick or a Comet)...

DS1 seems to be among the rarest stuff ever produced for the straight six.

I have seen a couple of Duraspark1 for V8 applications with all the drool-about magnetic pickup-reluctor intestines, accepting a stock points-type cap with clamps. Contrary to all the common DSII around, I´ve never seen the DS1 dizzy for the sixes.

That´d be best of both worlds - stock looks, cheap replacement caps and rotors, yet all the benefits of the duraspark electronic ignition system.
The only thing that comes close to that is a pertronixII.

I've seen quite a few DS1 in cars in the junkyard around here.

Last time I went 3 out of about 5 or 6 cars with an inline had a DS1 (except for the fox-bodys of course)

One was a '70 Maverick that somebody retro'd the DS1 into, the other 2 were '74 or '75 Maverick or Comets.

Of course I've seen more DS2's, cause there's always quite a few early fox body Mustangs, and the Fairmonts and the like.. but I have seen some DS1's too...
