Hi everyone! It's me again! I go to pick up the original 170 engine for our Comet on July 9th (had a change of plans so couldn't get it this last Saturday). My uncle, who has the engine, also has a complete 200 he's going to give me for free. He isn't sure if it's from a 65 or a 66 Mustang and I haven't seen it so I can't provide the casting number.

I know the recommended head swap is to go after a late model (77+) 200 head. I was originally planning on increasing the intake and exhaust ports on the 170 but now, I can use the 200. Is it worthwhile to take the 200 and swap the head on to the 170 given that I was going to increase the 170 head a bit?

Thanks!

You might have to compare CC chamber sizes and valve sizes before making a final decision. You can mill the head for a little better compression ratio. Did you read the "head swap" sticky yet? (at top of forum)

Free is FREE! Always a good thing to get - for free!

I need a set of connecting rods for a 200 - - - If you choose to use the head from that engine I would like to buy the rods from it.
