Can of worms....
Just pulled my oil pan to change a rear main seal.............If it were ONLY that simple. (I cant believe the 200 has 7 main bearings!} Cant believe it has a timing chain and not a gear!
Bearings say they are factoty 11/65, but the engine is in a 62 Falcon van. Go figure. Sooooo, now i have to somehow get to the chain cover {very hard to access}just so i can drop the crank and get to the old hard main seal! Guess i will put standard bearings back in while i'm at it. Pray for me!lol ~ Scott ~

You are telling me, I have been trying to get out that upper rear main seal for 2 days. I did drop the crank about an 1/8" and try tapping it out with a 3/16" brazing rod...nothing. Tried a smaller rod...nothing, then tried putting a coarse thread screw into one side to pull on seal while tapping the other...nothing but a torn off piece about an inch long. "Heavens To Besty," will it ever come out? I soaked it down with wd-40 over night, we will just have to see. I really don't want to drop that transfer case and tranny, it is not fun.

Once you dig the old one out, don't go back to the rope seal. Use one of the two piece neoprene seals. They do a beter job with less drag, IMO, and might be easier to install with the engine in the vehicle. Just don't forget to remove the old retaining pin from the bearing cap.

I went with the neoprene seal in my 200. I used a dremel to grind out the pin. Been a year now and lotsa miles, no leak.
