Are the rods on my 1978 200 4.977" long or are they 4.71" long? I did a search and still couldn't straighten it out. And just to make sure the stroke is 3.126" right?

4.715¨ + or - a few thou on the rods. Correct on the stroke.

Are you looking for a longer rod?

I was just trying to figure out some stuff for upcoming machine work. So.... 1.563 (half of stroke) + 4.715 + 1.5 (compression height of tempo piston) = 7.778. And if the deck height of a 200 is 8.04 that would mean that the piston is 30 thousandths in the hole from the factory assuming the block is square. If I deck the block down to 7.788 (about 25 thousandths down from stock) and maybe 45 off the head that might give me around 9 to 1 compresson? Does that compression sound right? Assuming a 50 thick felpro head gasket instead of the factory steel shim? thanks for clearing up the rod length issue. that helps a lot.

Sounds like you are on the right track. CC´ing your combustion chambers would give you a lot better idea of what you are working with.

Play around with this a bit:

Awesome. I found that link yesterday and then lost it today. It's pretty basic but definitely helps quite a bit. It put me right at about 9.2 so I think that would work pretty well. Thanks.
