Well, I posted a thread awhile back about my problem with the crank rotating only 210 degrees and locking up. After tearing apart the short block down to the crank and cam assembly, I noticed first that the timing chain was extremely worn and had major deflection on both sides. The crank was hitting the cam which stopped it from going any further. This was due to the fact that the cam is notched to clear the rod caps. The crank was allowed to rotate freely until both the cam and crank cam into contact due to both being out of sync.
the timing chain was so worn that the chain had to skip multiple teeth which accounted for the problem What I am still wondering is how this engine ran in the first place. The cam was pulled out and it did not show any strike marks in the nothced area. Once it was removed, the crank was unobstructed and turned 360 degrees with no interference.
So, this is another one for the books in case this happens to anyone else.
