i am curious as to how much would it cost to displace my block to 203...i have a recently rebuilt engine block and head so the block is in great condition, 8,000 miles since rebuild...also at this time it would be good to install APR 289 rod bolts, anything else...?when displacing the block to 203 what else besides the new bored block do i need if any?

If i am thing right. you would need to bore the block .030 over to make it a 203ci.

i know id have to bore the block .030 to get it to displace at 203ci and .060 to displace at 206...i was just wondering an approx. cost on how much the block work would set me back? im not rolling in money so getting prices helps me steer my way to upgrading the stang as soon as possible...

i thought you said you have a recently rebuilt engine??? why would you wanna take it all apart to do it again??? if it is re-built then it is probably bored .030 over already, not to mention you wont notice that much of a difference for the price tag of about $700-$900 for machiene work and re-build kit. :?:

about $15 per hole for a rebore, $120+ for new .030" over pistons and rings, $40+ for installing new pistons on the rods. Then whatever it costs to have the rods machined for the new rod bolts....

It adds up fast.

Just curious why are you rebuilding a 8,000 mile engine? Something break?

ok so you guys are telling me that if i got my engine already rebuilt that it has been bore .030 already if so...SWEET!!! no more plans of boring my block being that it has already been bored...ill get this confirmed by the shop...now it more money in other places!!! :D :D :D

ive own the car as of april of 2002 and i got the head and block rebuild work done in may or june 2002...

i just would of thought that if you built the block then you would know how much it was bored...

or did someone else build it?

well i took my car in for a tune up and they said my car needed a total rebuild...blah blah blah and head rebuild...so i left my dad to do the work with the shop and machinist because i was busy at football practice getting my starting position...all we know since we got it back was that it was fully rebuild head and block...ill take a look at the recipt to look for clues!

i was looking through a bunch of recipts when the previous owner had it and that it was bored .040 over...since then i had it rebuilt...do you think it remains at .040???

It's likely it was honed and re-ringed last June/July. As a diehard cynic, I'd give it 18-24 months more of regular service before being appreciably worn. Boring over 40 thou is touch-and-go for bore concentricity and durability. As a weekend car, it'll go for years as-is.

Cheers, Adam.

how do you find the cid for a block after it has ben honed and all mine is 40 over hoe would i got about finding it out?

It might say on the piston head in the dish something like .040. You can clearly see .030 on mine after i had it rebuilt which means they are 030 oversize pistons. Id post a pic but i don't know how to do that

Cheers
John

i got my block bored 0.30 over for 475,i got the good deal here

83 'Mont, you can use the compression calculator on the Schjeldahl Bros' website to calculate CID.

Regards, Adam.
