Howdy guys,
What engine is a direct bolt-in to replace my 223 ? Do the other 6 family engines (Big 6's 240 - 300) bolt in ? I have the 4 speed. It just seems that the 223 is a bit short in the selection of speed and upgrade parts.
Thanks.

the only bolt in is a 262 out of a 1961 to 1964 big truck. ther were some in 64 pickups The are hard to find.Iran an add in the paper had 6 calls 3 were 223.To tel of it is a 262 below the exaust out above the pan rail willbe the id.C1TE,C2TE,C3TE<orC4TE.

Well, what are you looking to do to an engine?

Headers, better manifolds (big singles, duals and trips), carbs, electronic ignition, better valves, dual springs, reground cams are available. It just takes a little looking and some minor modification. The only thing lacking, or just 'cause I haven't found them, are high lift rockers.

The newer sixes are better but there are speed parts for our old sixes.
