240 engine

I was looking for a motor to rebuild to put in my comet and a fellow contacted me says he has a 240. Can anyone tell me what the difference is from the 200 or 250 for that matter.

200 and 250 are small block engines, a 240 is a big block and prob won't fit in your car without major modification

What year Comet?

If it's the larger Maverick style Comet it just might fit.

8) not really, though they shared many components with the mustang, the 65 comet was the same as the falcon, and never had the 240. the person in question may be confusing it with the 200 which was available in the comet then. it is also possible that the person might be thinking of the 66 comet which may have had the big six as an option, i dont recall.

Check the engine out anyway. The seller may be confused and it could be a 200 or 250.
