250 motor mounts / width

Read thru the great FFPH about 250 swaps but not too much words about motor mounts and fitting there. The 250 is said to be 3/4" wider and so it seems. I wonder how it would fit on a fox body 200 cid crossmember? This may be something not too many have ever tried in a Mustang anyway.

The crossmember for I6 is different than the crossmember for other engines in fox bodies. All others use a crossmember similar to each other, so I4, V6, V8 interchange easily.

Maybe I have to buy a spare I6 cross and a V8 cross as there are both kinds available here at the moment. And make one of them fit.

Well, this is a hint of the GEN3 project, picked up an engine last Friday 8)

I dunno. With an early Mustang or similar the motor doesn't bolt to the crossmember anyhow. Heck, my Comet doesn't even have one. The regular motor mounts from the 200 of early vintage work fine with the 250, except it puts it even higher in the engine bay. Maverick mounts need to be swapped for the 250 to not hit the hood.

Maybe all it would take is relocated mounting holes for the motor mounts to make the 250 sit down in there like it should. Custom motor mounts aren't hard to fab up either.

I've looked at your webpage and can't help but be impressed by how much work you've put into your 200 projects...I see nothing but good for the 250.
