Well, I have a couple weeks off, so I figured I would fix the oil leak from the rear of the engine. I got a gasket kit, oil pump, and rear main seal. I put to Mav on the stands, pulled the pan etc. I took off the rear main to see the seal even with the block. I tried tapping the seal out with a hammer and a punch. It looks like the seal was glued in. No movement. Then I tried to lower the crank by loosening the mains. No movement there either. Some Bit@#. So I changed the lower seal, oil pump and reinstalled the oil pan. Added oil, 15W-40 Castrol diesel with zinc, and the car sounds great. No lifter chatter let it run for about a half hour. But a drop of oil was seen. I have a piece of cardboard under the car to see what dripped out tonight. I will be happy with a drop that will be a huge reduction from what it was. It looked like a Jag XKE parked in the driveway. Not that it would be a bad thing, but then again.
Tomorrow I am installing the 3.25 differential. I hope the car will accelerate respectably.

I was beginnig to believe that I was the only one that had seen a Jag mark it's parking spot.

Well, the Mav now has a couple of small, quarter sized at most, drops, instead of the embarrassing mess it was known for. At start up, the new oil pump has almost eliminated the start up lifter clatter. So the work was worth the effort.
